Copper Caper Leads to Arrest

A Waterloo man has been arrested for allegedly robbing a construction site of thousands of dollars of copper wire on three occasions, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Police believe 38 year old Benjamin Shadow robbed a construction site in the 4300 block of Ansborough Avenue three times beginning with the theft of more than $8,000 worth of copper wire earlier this month. Then on June 11th, more than $7,000 worth of copper wire was taken. Finally on June 14th cameras allegedly caught Shadow taking $10,000 worth of copper wire. Police found receipts belonging to Shadow showing he had sold the wire to A-Line Iron and Metal Recycling. Shadow has been charged with first degree Theft. He is being held on a $10,000 bond.
