Copper Theft Arrest

A Waterloo man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly stealing copper from the ruins of the Bluedorn Science Imaginarium, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Witnesses called police at around 11:30am Saturday to report a man inside the fence at the Imaginarium demolition site. When police arrived on scene 24 year old Ryan King took off on a bicycle. He was stopped a short time later and charged with third degree Theft. He has been released pending trial. King has prior Theft convictions, all bicycle related. In January of 2024 he stole a $1,300 Trek bicycle, in July of 2024 he stole two bike tires from a bike at the Waterloo Public Library, and in February of last year he took a bike frame from a scrap metal pile at a home on Howard Avenue.
