Waterloo City Council members say they are taken by surprise regarding the news of the Waterloo Police Chief Dan Trelka’s resignation.
Chairman of Public Safety Steve Schmitt said that it caught him completely off guard.
Schmitt also said that no discussion regarding the topic was made at the last City Council meeting.
City Councilman Tom Powers also said that he wasn’t made aware of the news until a local TV station informed him.
Sources say that Dan Trelka is out as Waterloo’s police chief by the end of the year.
