County Engineer Resigns After Drunk Driving

The County Engineer for both Floyd and Chickasaw Counties has resigned after his second drunk driving offense since 2019, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 50 year old Dusten Rolando of Ionia was pulled over on August 27th in Nashua for a defective headlight. As the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Deputy approached the vehicle he could smell alcohol. Rolando admitted to having a drink which led to a field sobriety test, which Rolando failed. He was taken to the sheriff’s office where a urine specimen was taken. The results from that came back on September 13th showing Rolando’s blood alcohol content was .115, clearly above the limit to drive of .08. He had been charged with OWI back in April of 2019 in Floyd County. He had an annual salary of $132,000 as County Engineer. Both Boards of Supervisors will discuss the position this week.
