The Iowa Department of Public Health updated their COVID-19 numbers Sunday. 528 new positive cases were identified bringing the statewide total to 9,169. 77% of the new cases were in the 22 counties that did not begin the reopening process on May 1st. 9 deaths were also announced, including one in Bremer County and two in Black Hawk County. All 9 were at least 61 years of age. There are currently 378 people hospitalized with the virus. 3,325 Iowans have recovered.
The official numbers show 53 total cases in Bremer County with 5 deaths, Butler County has now seen 9 cases, Chickasaw has 5 cases, Floyd County has seen its first case, Fayette has 22, and Buchanan has 20. Black Hawk continues to keep their numbers more up to date than the state figures. They have reported 1,523 cases and 15 deaths to this point.
