Cedar Rapids Police Chief Wayne Jerman says he’s concerned and disturbed by two weekend shooting incidents that left two people dead and one person injured.
The first incident happened Friday evening when police responded to a home and found 15-year old Senquez Jackson suffering from a gunshot wound. Jackson was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead Saturday night.
A second shooting happened Saturday night when officers responded to a report of multiple gunshots. Authorities say 21-year old Brandon Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person, a 16-year-old boy, was taken to the hospital with what authorities described as a non-life threatening wound.
Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the deadly shooting Saturday night. Kenyauta Keith faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of Brandon Johnson.
