The entire Midwest was hit by a strong and rare December wind storm Wednesday. Tree limbs were knocked down, trash cans were strewn about, the electricity was knocked out for many, and semis were even blown over. There was a power line fire in Shell Rock after the wind broke off the top of a pine tree.
A possible tornado hit the town of Rudd, knocking down power lines and trees and leveling some buildings. School was cancelled in the district to help with clean up. Rudd is expected to be without power and water for a few days. No injuries have been reported to this point.
The state also set records for high temperatures in December as we saw highs in the 70s and lows in the 20s on either side of the wind storm.
