Deer on Roadways

In addition to large farm equipment being on the roadways there is another danger to drivers this time of year.

Captain Don Eggleston with the Waverly Police Department shares some tips on how to stay safe.

Eggleston says if you do hit a deer, do not touch the animal and call law enforcement.

A motorcyclist was injured last week when he hit a deer, according to KWWL. 32 year old Kelly Sullivan of Cedar Falls was riding on North Union Road when the deer entered the roadway in front of him. Sullivan struck the deer and lost control of the bike, ending up in the west ditch. He called 911 and was taken to Allen Hospital with what were described as non life threatening injuries.
