Governor Kim Reynolds has announced a Disaster Proclamation for 17 counties, including three local counties, a day after issuing a Disaster Emergency Declaration in 15 other counties. Among the latest round are Black Hawk, Butler, and Fayette Counties. The proclamation allows for the use of the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program which provides grants of up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level. The grants can be used for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food, and temporary housing expenses. Applicants have 45 days to submit a claim. It also allows for the use of the Disaster Case Advocacy Program which addresses serious needs related to disaster-related hardship, injury, or adverse conditions. There is no income eligibility requirement for this and the program closes 180 days after the date of proclamation.
