One person was taken into custody after an altercation inside a Dollar Tree in Waterloo on Friday. Police were called to the store on Hawthorne Avenue around 5:25pm after two people allegedly got into a fight. One of the combatants was stabbed with a screwdriver during the tussle. The suspect then fled the store and attempted to force his way into vehicles in the parking lot but was unsuccessful. He then fled on foot down La Porte Road. As police closed in on him he allegedly stabbed himself in the neck. Officers fired pepper balls at the suspect and tased him in order to take him into custody. The suspect, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital for treatment, charges are pending.
