It’s rare for a sporting event to live up to the hype, but last night’s Field of Dreams Game in Dyersville was an event that exceeded expectations. The White Sox beat the Yankees with a walk-off home run 9-8. The Yankees trailed by 3 runs going into the 9th and scored 4 runs to take the lead, including getting back-to-back bombs into the corn. In the bottom of the 9th Tim Anderson hit an opposite corn field 2-run home run to walk off with victory in the first ever game in Iowa. Last night’s game featured 8 home runs.
The game opened with Clarksville native and American Idol champion Maddie Poppe singing the National Anthem from the original movie field.

Waverly-Shell Rock middle school principal Jeremey Langner was one of the fans that got to be attend the game.
Fans had to walk through the corn to get to the Major League venue. Langner talked about the moment he walked through.
The movie Field of Dreams is primarily about a father-son relationship. Langner talked about going to the game with his son, Matthew.
The game ended with a 2-run walk-off home run by White Sox Tim Anderson. Langner shared about that amazing moment.
