Dunkerton Man Arrested After Chase

A Dunkerton man was arrested last week in Fayette County after running from Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies. The sheriff’s office received a report of a suspicious man walking along Willow Road near 20th Street north of Fairbank. When they arrived on scene the man, later identified as 39 year old Shane Hansen, attempted to run away into a field. Deputies tased Hansen and took him into custoday. He has been charged with Interference With Official Acts. He was also wanted by Oelwein Police after evading them in a high speed chase the night before. In that incident he allegedly passed a police car going 75mph in a 45mph zone. When the officer initiated the chase, Hansen allegedly reached speeds of 100mph and eventually lost police. His vehicle was later found on the railroad tracks in Fairbank with heavy damage.
