e-Scooter Ordinance Gets Tweaked

For the second time since its approval on June first the ordinance governing e-scooters in Waterloo has been tweaked, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The Waterloo City Council voted to impose these rules on the two manufacturers: a 15 mph speed limit on the devices, ban riders under the age of 18 and require users to scan an identification card proving their age before riding, set a maximum number of scooters per company to 150, and limit scooters to the streets, bicycle lanes, and recreation trails within the geofenced area. The scooters have proven to be somewhat of a controversial issue in several communities recently.
