The second quarter economic indicators have been released for Bremer County. Unemployment stayed at 3%, the same as a year ago. There are roughly 12,700 people employed within the county. Bank deposits went up more than $60,000 from last year and assets were up more than $50,000. Electric, water, and gas connections all were up from a year ago in Waverly. There are slightly more than 100 fewer vehicles registered in Bremer County this year compared to last. There were 16 more homes sold this year, although they spent four more days on the market on average. The price of those homes went up by $70,000 by median sales price and by $54,000 on average. 5 single family homes were built in the second quarter of 2026, down from 12 last year, which created 4,000,000 less value than a year ago. Finally, about half as many building permits were issued this year from 402 down to 207. The value of those permits dropped about $7,000,000
