Poyner Elementary in Waterloo was put on lock down Wednesday after a disturbance outside the school, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Witnesses told police that the driver of one vehicle got into an argument with another driver around 8:00 a.m. in front of the school. The first driver, identified as 74 year old Burton Mathes, allegedly gestured and made reference to shooting the other driver. He eventually returned to his vehicle without further incident. No actual firearm was involved. A greater police presence was shown around Poyner and nearby Bunger Middle School. Mathes was charged with Disorderly Conduct. His bond was set at $300.
