A clothes dryer was apparently to blame for a fire that destroyed an Evansdale home early Sunday.
The Evansdale Fire Department was called to 246 Fifth St. at 1:36 a.m. for a report of a dryer fire. Fire officials said they arrived to find flames coming out of windows, the roof and doors.
Occupants of the home escaped unharmed while firefighters from Evansdale, Gilbertville, Raymond and and Waterloo extinguished the blaze.
Fire officials said the home appears to be a total loss, but no injuries were reported.
