The City of Waverly is inviting its citizens of all ages to take part in the Community Sharing Garden this year. Saturday will be Garden Prep Day from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Next Saturday, May 10th, will be Spring Planting Day from 8:00-11:00 a.m. Beyond that volunteers will be needed throughout the growing season to help with weeding, watering, and harvesting. That work will be done on Tuesdays from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00-11:00 a.m. All produce grown in the Community Sharing Garden is donated to local food banks to help support families in need. Last year the sharing garden produced over 15,000 pounds of food. Those interested in participating this year can simply meet at the garden or can contact Ron Lenth at the Bremer County Iowa State Extension.
