Failure to Register Leads to Prison Time

A sex offender found living in Cedar Falls earlier this year will go to prison for failing to register, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 61 year old Robert Metz was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. Once that is completed he will be on supervised released for five years. Metz had previously been convicted of Indecency with a Child in 1993 and Possession of Child Pornography in 2012, both in Texas. He moved to Iowa in April of 2021, at a location that is a business on University Avenue in Cedar Falls, however, he failed to register as a sex offender. He was involved in a crash at LaPorte Road and San Marnan Drive in Waterloo in March of this year from which he fled. He was later cited for that leading to the discovery of his absence from the sex offender registry.
