A former City Councilman and business leader in Fairbank has passed away. John Woods began his business ventures in Fairbank by purchasing Fairbank Furniture and Woods Funeral Home from his granfather. He would go on to purchase Sumner Furniture, The Chalet Supper Club and Fairbank Lawn and Leisure. Other notable business endeavors include Woods Construction, Modern Building Products, WCI Trucking to go along with his farming operation. Woods also vital in establishing the Fairbank Health Clinic, the Fairbank Library, the Fairbank Food Center, Little Island Child Care Center, and Parkview Assisted Living. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:30 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank. A visitation will be held on Friday from 3-7 at Woods Funeral Home. John Woods was was 89 years old.
