An Evansdale woman has been arrested for allegedly faking a break-in at her home, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 66 year old Sandra Crow called police to report that while she was in Missouri on the weekend of March 28th, someone broke into her home and stole two TVs, a computer, two diamond rings, and a safe. But when she talked with an investigator with State Farm Insurance she said she was in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin at the time of the burglary and gave them a different list of items she said were stolen. Police viewed video from Crow’s neighborhood and found that her car was parked in front of her home for most of the weekend she claimed to be out of town. When Crow was confronted with the discrepancies she allegedly admitted there was no break-in and claimed she was experiencing financial hardship. She has now been charged with Insurance Fraud and Filing a False Report. In 2022 Crow cashed a $30,000 winning scratch-off ticket but authorities discovered her boyfriend had actually been the purchaser of the ticket. He had Crow cash the ticket to avoid the state claiming money for outstanding debt. The couple was ordered to repay the $30,000.
