Family Escapes Fire

A Waterloo family was forced to escape through a window after their home caught fire early Wednesday morning, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Fire crews were called to the home at 215 Harrison St just after 1:00 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived they found the back portion of the home in flames. They were able to contain the fire to that area but the rest of the home suffered heat and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is being investigated but the family reported a brick thrown through their window about 15 minutes before the fire was reported. The family consists of a woman and six children. They are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
