Sunday the Black Hawk County Dispatch Center received 911 calls reporting a car versus semi motor vehicle accident with serious injuries at 12:15PM at the intersection of Hudson Road and West Ridgeway Avenue in Cedar Falls.
Witnesses accounts and physical evidence and indicate that a Freightliner semi-tractor and trailer were traveling northbound on Hudson Road and that a Nissan SUV was traveling eastbound on West Ridgeway Avenue. Witness accounts and physical evidence indicate that the Nissan SUV failed to stop for a posted stop sign at the intersection with Hudson Road and impacted the side of northbound semi.
The driver of the SUV was transported to Mercy One Hospital in Waterloo and later died of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the semi was not injured. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family members.
Cedar Falls Public Safety Officials were assisted by Mercy One Paramedics, the Iowa Department of Motor Vehicle Enforcement, the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Department and the Cedar Falls Public Works Department.
