A crash near Oran has claimed the life of one and sent another to the hospital. The accident was reported around 1:45 yesterday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 3 and W Avenue. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 19 year old Melody Hewitt of Oelwein failed to yield upon entering the highway and was struck by 66 year old Charles Meyers of Edgewood. The crash killed Meyers. Hewitt was taken to MercyOne Oelwein Medical Center. Her condition is unknown at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
