A crash south of Tripoli on Saturday claimed the life of one and injured five others. A Toyota Tacoma driven by 47 year old Lal Pui Puia Sai Lo of Des Moines failed to stop at a stop sign on 190th Street, according to the Iowa State Patrol. A second truck, a Ford F150 driven by 82 year old Trivona Drewis of Waverly, entered the intersection at the same time and collided with the driver side of the first truck. One of Lo’s passengers, 41 year old Lungawia Chalthleng, of Urbandale, was killed in the crash. Lo and two other passengers, 51 year old Hming Chunga and 47 year old Esther Sui Iang both of Des Moines, were hospitalized, Iang by Air Care. Drewis and her passenger, 83 year old Marvin Drewis, were also hospitalized in the crash. Neither Chalthleng, who died, nor Iang, who was air lifted to the hospital, were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The Iowa State Patrol says the other four lives were saved by their seat belts.
