A federal court jury yesterday convicted a Waterloo man of possessing a firearm as a felon and crack cocaine with the intent to distribute. Police arrested 32-year-old Marchello Rembert on June 4th in the 200 block of Cottage Street in Waterloo. Police found 15 bags of crack cocaine in his front pocket. They also found a handgun in his girlfriend’s vehicle with Rembert’s fingerprint on it. Court records show Rembert was previously convicted of felony drug, theft, and fraud charges. Rembert faces up to 30 years in prison and a $1.25 million fine. A judge has not set a sentencing date.
