Federal Prison for Gun Crime

A Waterloo woman will go to federal prison for buying a gun that was used by another person to commit a homicide, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 21 year old Destiny Harrington pleaded guilty to one count of Making a False Statement During the Purchase of a Firearm. She indicated to an unnamed business in Cedar Falls that she was purchasing the weapon for herself, however she was proven to have bought the gun for a friend who could not buy guns due to being a felon. The gun was used in the death of 20 year old Dayton Sanders during a botched robbery in Waterloo. Harrington will serve 6 months in prison to be followed by four months of home confinement and three years of supervised release.
