A fire on Friday night significantly damaged the Friends of the Family shelter in Waverly. Friends of the Family says that all of their guests and staff were able to get out fo the building physically unharmed. All of the guests reportedly were able to find alternative housing. The organization is still assessing the full extent of the damage but says that they will continue to provide safe shelter, support, and services for those who need it. Those looking to donate to Friends of the Family can do so with monetary donations and gift cards of any kind. Donations can be made at fofia.org or at their Waterloo administration office at 1009 Peoples Square. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
