A fire at a home in Waterloo has claimed the life of the family pet, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The family at 532 Evergreen Avenue was upstairs when they heard smoke alarms and smelled smoke. They were able to get out of the home safely. The fire appears to have started on the back porch and moved into the home and up the back wall. The family’s pet dog became trapped by the fire and was killed. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
