The Waterloo Police Department is finally fully staffed, according to KWWL. Three new officers were recently sworn in by outgoing mayor Quentin Hart. Those three new officers will undergo three weeks of training in Waterloo before going to Des Moines for 16 weeks of training and then coming back to Waterloo where they will spend another 12 weeks of field training. Chief Robert Duncan expects them to be on their own by mid to late summer. The department currently has 124 officers but Mayor-elect Dave Boesen says there are upcoming retirements and so they continue to look for new recruits.
