Former Coach Killed in Crash

A crash in Allison has killed a former high school football coach. 69 year old Gene Chinander was traveling southbound on Highway 14 in his truck Thursday afternoon when he failed to stop at the intersection with Highway 3. Chinander left the roadway and struck a legally parked semi in the AgVantage parking lot. Chinander was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the football coach at Allison Bristow where he coached his son, Erik Chinander, who is now the defensive coordinator at Nebraska. The cornhuskers defense is currently having their best season under Chinander. It is unclear if Erik will travel with the team as they take on Minnesota tomorrow.
