Former Community Leader to be Resentenced

The former Waterloo church leader and member of the Waterloo Police rebranding committee who sexually abused several teenage girls and impregnated one, will need to be resentenced after a clerical error, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The Iowa Court of Appeals ordered a new sentencing for Jamodd “Jamie” Sallis because the judge in his case ordered a one year sentence run consecutive to his 15 year sentence but did not explicitly say why. The state’s rules of criminal procedure require judges to explain their reasoning for a consecutive sentence. Sallis was convicted of having sex with a 15 year old girl in his home and in hotels in Davenport when they would travel for choir practice in 2020. The girl became pregnant with Sallis’ child. Sallis was also accused of getting naked with another girl the year prior and having sex with a 12 year old girl the year after.
