Former Deere Employee Accused of Scheme

A former purchasing supervisor for John Deere in Waterloo has been accused of a scheme that cost the company at least $250,000.

Harvey Ulfers, from Cedar Falls, is facing federal charges of wire fraud and money laundering.

A grand jury indictment states that Ulfers was responsible for coordinating the shipment of scrap metal from the foundry to scrap yards.

He’s accused of creating of false shipping orders that would understate how much the scrap metal was worth. Federal authorities say he then worked with others to sell it for what it was really worth and pocketed the difference.

His trial is set for June 6th.

The IRS and FBI investigated the case.
