A former Oelwein City Councilman and firefighter has been sentenced for exposing himself at a corn stand. 38 year old Benjamin Weber pulled up to a corn stand in a convenience store parking lot in Independence on August 8th and ordered two dozen ears of corn. The female worker noticed Weber’s genitals exposed as he sat in his car. Weber allegedly returned to the stand on August 22nd where another female worker again noticed his genitals exposed. This worker was able to write down the license plate number and both workers were able to pick Weber out of a photo lineup. Weber was granted a deferred judgment for one count of indecent exposure. The charge will come off his record if he successfully completes two years of supervised probation. He will have to register as a sex offender and must pay $3,000 in court costs.
