The funeral procession for Iowa State Patrol Trooper Ted Benda is scheduled to go from Ankeny to Waukon Friday morning, according to KWWL. Benda died Wednesday after being seriously injured in a single vehicle accident last week. The procession will leave Ankeny around 9:00 Friday morning, heading north on Interstate 35 before turning east on Highway 9. They will follow Highway 9 to Benda’s hometown of Waukon with an arrival of sometime between 12:30 and 1pm. Benda was stationed at the District 10 office in Oelwein. That district has lost two troopers this year, the other being Sgt Jim Smith who was shot to death in Grundy Center.
