The now former Waterloo Police logo remains a hot topic, at least for one group, according to KWWL. The group Cedar Valley Backs the Blue have begun a billboard campaign in support of the griffin logo. One, less than a block from the police station, says “Remember the Griffin” with the controversial logo beneath. Below the logo it reads, “It’s time to Part with Hart!” The group has been critical of Mayor Quentin Hart and Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald. The current logo was approved by the Waterloo City Council in May after years of complaints that the griffin too closely resembled a Ku Klux Klan symbol.
