A Hampton man has been arrested and charged with sexual abuse, according to KIMT. 53 year old Richard Arends has entered a plea of not guilty after being charged back on June 1st. According to authorities, Arends allegedly choked a woman until she passed out, then when the woman came to, she says Arends was raping her. A sexual assault exam found injuries consistent with the victim’s statement. The original charge of 1st degree sexual abuse has been reduced to 3rd degree sexual abuse. Arends will go to trial on August 27.
