Hampton Man Guilty in Hate Crime Case

The Hampton man accused of distributing racist flyers to Latino owned businesses in Hampton has taken a plea deal, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 38 year old Daniel Embree pled guilty to eight counts of fifth degree Criminal Mischief and one count of Trespassing With Intent to Commit a Hate Crime. In exchange nine counts of first degree Harassment were dismissed. Embree posted flyers that resembled a hunting license but read “Open season on illegal immigrants. Illegal Immigrant Hunting Permit. No bag limit. No tagging required. Trump 2024.” He is accused of leaving similar flyers at the Cedar Falls Library. He has been charged with third degree Harassment in that case. Trial has not yet been set for that one.
