Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart has announced his intentions to run for reelection. Hart is seeking a sixth term as mayor of Waterloo. He says that serving as mayor has been the honor of a lifetime. He emphasized some of the achievements under his leadership including millions of dollars in investments in parks and recreation, critical infrastructure projects, and the launch of Waterloo Fiber, the state’s largest municipally owned fiber network. He also noted that the city resolved a 30-year consent decree in under a decade and achieved a record-breaking $304 million permit valuation. Hart is the only Black person to serve as Waterloo Mayor in the city’s history.
