Two women are in custody following a high-speed chase that ended when the fleeing vehicle became stuck in a back yard. According to Black Hawk County sheriff’s deputies, the chase started around 8:00 p.m. Monday when an Evansdale police officer noticed a person with outstanding warrants in the vehicle. The car didn’t pull over, and the pursuit headed through north east Black Hawk County and then down toward Gilbertville before the driver took Highway 20 back into Evansdale. Waterloo police placed Stop Sticks at the River Forest Road exit, but the vehicle kept going into a Waterloo neighborhood as the tires deflated and peeled off the rims. The car eventually took to yards but quit behind a house in the area of Idaho Street and Dearborn Avenue. Both people in the car were detained for warrants, deputies said. No injuries were reported.
