A man has been arrested after allegedly hitting a parked car in Evansdale and attempting to flee the scene, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Police were called to the 500 block of South Evans Road around 3:00 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses told police that they observed 27 year old Alex Tyer strike the parked vehicle and then point a gun at the person who called 911. Tyer would ditch his Oldsmobile Alero a few blocks away, at which point he got a small child out of the car and began walking away. Police stopped Tyer and the child in the 200 block of Wema Street. A breath test measured Tyer’s blood alcohol content at .264, more than three times the limit to drive. They also found 9mm ammunition in his pocket and a 9mm handgun nearby. The child was examined by paramedics before being released to her mother. Tyer has been charged with third offense OWI, Assault While Displaying a Weapon, Child Endangerment, Carrying Weapons, Public Intoxication and Striking an Unattended Vehicle.
