The City of Waverly is directing the public to their list of items that should not be placed in garbage carts or dumpsters. This comes after a discarded hoverboard with lithium batteries started a fire in the back of the dump truck recently. The driver noticed the smoke early and was able to extinguish the fire before the truck caught on fire. On the Public Works portion of waverlyia.com there is a list of 12 prohibited materials, including yard waste, appliances, fluorescent light fixtures, and paint, among other more obvious items.
