The Cedar Bend Humane Society is looking for help from the community as they are being stretched thin both monetarily and for space to house a large influx of animals. Just in the past few weeks they have taken in five Chihuahuas found in a small pet taxi in Gates Park. Later that day three more were found in a park restroom. Two or three others were found wandering the neighborhood, including one that jumped off an overpass to evade capture and suffered serious injuries including a broken leg. CBHS has also taken in twelve cats with singed fur and smoke inhalation from a recent house fire. Several other strays and abandoned pets have been taken to the facility. CBHS says they are hoping people can make donations earmarked for surgeries and adopt some pets of their own.
