Hung Jury in Trial of Former Student

The trial of a former UNI student who allegedly threatened to kill the dean of students and her family has ended in a hung jury, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 26 year old Aisha Nyala had been charged with Intimidation With a Serious Weapon, 20 counts of Stalking With a Technological Device, and four counts of first degree Harassment. She allegedly threatening to shoot and kill Allyson Rafanello, her husband, who is the executive director of housing and dining at UNI, and their children while using burner accounts on social media. In the posts Nyala would often reference getting revenge for something in the past, although it is unclear what. Nyala has asked for a speedy trial so her case will need to be retried within 90 days.
