The Iowa DNR is warning those looking to do some ice fishing that they ice may be melting. They say that unseasonably cold weather followed by warm weather is causing some melting. They suggest that there be 4 inches of ice to safely ice fish. If you want to bring an ATV or snowmobile on the ice there needs to be 5 inches of ice. And if you want to drive a small truck onto the ice, wait until there is 8 to 12 inches of ice. Temperatures this weekend are expected to reach into the 50s which will likely add to the ice melt.
