In a case that was unsealed recently a Waterloo man was arrested in April after he bought 37 handguns from October 2020 to January 2021, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 34 year old Joshua Butler was charged with three counts of Making a False Statement on a Firearms Purchase, Drug User in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number. Butler is accused of claiming on forms that the guns were for himself when they were allegedly for others. The guns were purchased from Scheels in Cedar Falls, Mr. Guns in Waterloo, and Sieh Guns of Avoca.
