The Cedar Falls City Council has OK’ed increases to some recreation and park fees in order to better pay their part time and seasonal employees, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Among the prices on the rise will be child care, volleyball and dodgeball leagues, fitness classes, birthday parties, park shelter rentals, and some swimming pool admissions. Summer pool passes to the Falls will increase by $15, daily admission will rise by $1. Officials expect these new prices to generate $80,000 annually. Part time and seasonal employees had been making anywhere between $7.50 to $9.40 an hour based on the job. Hourly increases are expected to be around .75 and $1.40.
