A naturalized US citizen from China who pleaded guilty to participating in a conspiracy to steal seed corn has been ordered to pay $425,000 to the US companies he stole from. Mo Hailong admitted to his role in a plan to steal seed corn from Monsanto and Dupont Pioneer and send it to China where scientists would then reproduce its genetic traits. On Monday Mo was ordered to pay each company $212,500 in restitution and must forfeit two farms. He also was ordered to serve a three year prison sentence, after that he must report to immigration officials.
