A Jesup man has been sentenced for continually shaking and beating his infant son, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 29 year old Kyle Astleford was sentenced to up to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of Child Endangerment and Multiple Acts Causing Serious Injury. As part of a plea deal a charge of Attempted Murder was dismissed. The little boy, named Liam, was born in August of 2022. In October of 2022 he was taken to urgent care because he was lethargic, had a slow heart rate and was turning blue. Doctors would find a skull fracture, brain bleed, broken ribs, retinal hemorrhaging, and bruises. He was placed on life support. Liam has improved, no longer needing a feeding tube or neck brace but he will likely have developmental delays and special needs. He has been placed on several medications and suffers constant seizures.
