Keep Leaves Out of the Road

Several area cities are reminding their citizens to keep leaf piles out of the road. The City of Waverly says kids love to play in piles of leaves so therefore you should not rake leaves into the street. The City of Plainfield encourages its citizens not to burn, mow, or throw grass clippings and leaves into city streets. They say, instead, take your grass clippings and leaves to the yard waste site located on the east end of Division Street, down the road towards the river. Anyone with questions can contact City Hall. The City of Nashua says that leaf piles should be left in their yards or taken to the brush site, which is available for use at anytime. They go on to say if the leaf piles are left in the street they can be hazardous for drivers and pose a risk if kids decide to play in them. They also end up in storm sewers and can cause basement flooding.
