A Columbus Junction man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and torturing his girlfriend in Brandon in late December, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 26 year old Thang Ding is accused of pointing a gun at his girlfriend’s head, striking her in the head with the gun, whipping her with a charging cord, jabbing her with a screwdriver, choking her, and punching her over the course of several days, all while not allowing her to leave the home. The woman was eventually able to slip a relative a note, who then called police. When deputies arrived on scene they noticed bruises and other injuries on the woman. They also seized a handgun that had been reported stolen out of Indiana. Ding has been charged with first degree Kidnapping, Domestic Assault With Strangulation, Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm, Trafficking Stolen Weapons, Domestic Abuse Assault, Intimidation With a Weapon, and a Violation of a Protective Order. Ding has a prior Domestic Assault conviction for assaulting and threatening to kill the same woman in Columbus Junction in 2022.
